London — Girlguiding UK, the United Kingdom’s largest voluntary organization for girls and young women, is urging its constituents publicly to forgo unnecessary cosmetic surgery, cypnow.co.uk reports.
The group launched the Give Yourself a Chance campaign in response to findings that of 1,200 girls surveyed, half of those between the ages of 16 and 19 said they would consider cosmetic surgery.
The online program aims to offer advice to girls ages 12 to 16 on alternative ways to build their self-esteem and body confidence. The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons is one of the groups backing the campaign.
