Cebu City, Philippines — Health authorities in the Philippines are investigating complaints against an unlicensed woman providing cosmetic procedures after two botched buttocks enhancements.
Gloria Rabor, a 56-year-old resident of Cebu City, is accused of providing illegal procedures in her home.
According to the Cebu Daily News, Ms. Rabor was formerly employed as an assistant to a physician who performed cosmetic procedures. After her employer went abroad, she allegedly continued to perform the procedures, including 10 rhinoplasties without complaint, until the failed buttocks enhancements.
The two recipients of the botched procedures claimed they were left with infections after receiving collagen injections in their buttocks.
Filipino health authorities have also warned consumers against using the services of unlicensed cosmetic surgeons or practitioners.
“The public should seek licensed doctors and clinics for cosmetic surgery to avoid infections, which could be fatal,” Cebu City Health Officer Estella Ygonia, M.D., was quoted as saying.
