The industry has been minding a steady growth of male patients for the past several years. This year, plastic surgeon Grant Stevens, M.D., is taking his male patients more serioulsy with the opening of Marina ManLand in November 2014, a facility that caters to men only to make them to feel more comfortable seeking out cosmetic treatment.
Marina ManLand is a man cave, of sorts, for cosmetic procedures. It's a medical office, spa, sports bar and smoking lounge all rolled into one. Leather chairs and large flat-screen televisions furnish treatment rooms called the "Lion’s Den," the "Bear’s Lair" and, perhaps for henpecked hubbies, the "Doghouse," where clients can get their “Bro-tox” injections, have hair removed via laser or get hair-replacement procedures performed.
Dr. Stevens describes Marina ManLand in a recent Business Wire report as “the first facility of its kind to bridge the gap between conservative non-invasive cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery.” He came up with the idea when he realized he was seeing more male patients than ever and that there was a market for a separate facility that featured more masculine surroundings.
