A couple of years ago, Google+ was predicted to succeed Facebook as the next big social media platform. Clearly that hasn't happened. So we asked marketing and SEO pro Sam Peek, Incredible Marketing, to help our readers understand exactly how relevant this social media platform may still be to cosmetic surgeons.
Sam Peek: Google+ still matters TODAY, and the recognition that Google (as the search engine) gives to it is a critical factor in the present search algorithm. This will, however, not continue on for very long, perhaps for only the next 6 to 12 months. Google has essentially thrown in the towel on Google+, and has already decommissioned certain functions of the nonaccepted social platform.
That said, Google+ is worth investing time and money only if every other key digital component of your marketing program is running at optimum capacity. This would include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even LinkedIn for medical professionals. Google+ only makes sense if you need that last "punch" in the search engines, and you have exhausted all other means.
