BTL Aesthetics launched its new noninvasive option in vaginal rejuvenation, Ultra Femme 360° technology, in March at the 2017 American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting. The noninvasive Ultra Femme technology is the first of its kind, according to a company press release.
Beverly Hills, Calif., dermatologic surgeon Jason Emer, M.D., who did initial studies on the technology, says Ultra Femme 360 degree technology shortens the treatment time typically required for noninvasive vaginal rejuvenation.
“We love the Ultra Femme 360°,” Dr. Emer says. “Women love it.”
The BTL device is unique, he says, because the energy is delivered at 360 degrees, rather than at the tip of a probe.
“The entire length of the probe is being heated, so it’s like a sphere of energy being delivered. All you need to do is go in and out slowly,” Dr. Emer says. “It’s really easy for the provider to do the treatment. And it’s very quick. It’s done in a few minutes, in the internal component.”
Outcomes and safety profiles for Ultra Femme 360° are similar to those of rival ThermiVa (Thermi). And both devices are relatively comfortable for the patient, he says.

BTL Ultra Femme 360° offers the shortest radiofrequency treatment time available in the space thanks to a trademarked intelligence system that allows providers to treat at high energy levels without compromising patient comfort. Clinical studies on the Ultra Femme 360° have shown positive results for treating stress urinary incontinence, as well as improving vaginal laxity and sexual satisfaction, according to the press release.
The technology is FDA cleared to provide heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for conditions, such as relief of pain and increase in local circulation. BTL Ultra Femme 360° is part of the BTL Exilis Ultra 360° platform. The newer platform, is an upgrade to BTL Exilis, and it delivers ultrasound and radio frequency energy simultaneously in a single applicator.
