Restoration Robotics (San Jose, Calif.) has launched the most advanced hair restoration robotic system, according to the company
ARTAS iX combines robotic and artificial intelligence technology to provide graft harvesting, recipient site marking and implantation.
Specifically, the robotic platform comes with a 3D-camera stereoscopic vision system for improved 44-micron resolution and a 7-axis robot arm to deliver superior procedural analysis, precision, repeatability and clinical workflow efficiency.
ARTAS iX is also compact and streamlined – about half the size of previous models.
The platform employs a motorized, battery-powered, portable and adjustable procedure chair for increased ergonomics, patient comfort and clinical versatility. The chair can also be used for other aesthetic procedures, thus adding value to aesthetic surgeons.
Ryan Rhodes, CEO of Restoration Robotics, says in a press release that the company believes the debut of the ARTIS iX system represents a major transformative milestone for the company and for the hair restoration industry in general.
“We believe that the additional features, especially the implantation functionality, significantly enhances our offering to physicians and helps position us to further penetrate the expanding male hair restoration market,” Rhodes states.
Robert Bernstein, M.D., a clinical professor of dermatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and founder of Bernstein Medical Center for Hair Restoration in New York City, remarks in the same press release that the new robotic system “marks a pivotal development in hair restoration technology. It will enable physicians to deliver outstanding results for their patients while reducing the more labor-intensive aspects of hair restoration procedures. Following a recent demonstration of the system, I believe that it will reduce clinical fatigue and case time through robotic assistance and improved clinical workflow.”
